Dental Bridge

Replace a missing tooth with a dental bridge. The bridge closes the gap between two teeth with a false tooth. This false tooth, referred to as a pontic, stays put between the neighboring tooth on each side. We are able to use various materials for your bridge, including natural looking and metal free porcelain or zirconia bridges.

Types of Dental Bridges

Four types of dental bridges are available to choose from:

  • Implant-Supported: Dental implants support the false tooth after implantation into the gum. Some people need two surgeries - one to place the implant in the jawbone and another to place the bridge.
  • Traditional: A dental crown secures a bridge with a false tooth attached.
  • Cantilever: This type only needs one natural tooth next to it vs. one on each side like the traditional.
  • Maryland: This dental bridge uses two natural abutment teeth - one on each side of the missing tooth. This does not use a dental crown like the traditional bridge. Instead, it uses a framework of metal and porcelain bonded on the backs of the abutment teeth. The advantage here is that you do not need to shave down healthy teeth.

Benefits of Dental Bridges

Missing teeth can be embarrassing, cause difficulty in speech and eating. Dental bridges solve those problems along with:

  • Restoring your beautiful smile.
  • Maintaining your face shape.
  • Improving your oral health.
  • Ensuring your other teeth stay in the right position.

Candidates for a Dental Bridge

You can are a candidate for a dental bridge if you have:

  • One or more missing teeth
  • Good general health
  • Teeth supporting the dental bridge are in good health
  • Good oral health
